Plasma Pen & Fibroblasting

A plasma pen is a cosmetic device that uses a high- frequency electrical current to create a plasma arc, which can be applied to the  skins surface to promote skin tightening and rejuvenation. The treatment is often referred to as fibroblasting because it stimulates fibroblast cells in the skin to produce collagen and elastin which are essential proteins for maintaining the skins elasticity and firmness.



   

SUMMARY OF THE PROCEDURE:

 

  • It is crucial to have a consultation prior to treatment to assess suitability. Your safety is important to us and as part of our commitment with providing you with best care, a small area of skin will be treated with the plasma pen 48 hours before treatment to unsure there are no adverse reactions to the products used. 


  • During the treatment , the plasma pen is held a short distance away from the skin, and the plasma energy creates tiny micro-injuries the body's natural healing response, leading to increased collagen production. common areas treated would include around the eyes ( for hooded eyelids) fine lines and wrinkles, and areas with loose skin. 


  •  The treatment is non-invasive , with minimal downtime compared to surgical option. Clients may experience redness, swelling and scabbing in treated areas , but these typically subside within a week. The results can last from several months to a couple of years.


                                                

  SUITABLE CANDIDATES:


  •  Presence of mild to moderate signs of aging: individuals exhibiting fine lines or loose skin are well suited for this treatment.
  • Targeted treatment areas: Those aiming for skin tightening in regions such as the face, neck and eyelids. 
  • We would recommend this treatment is only for skin classification of 1 - 3 on the Fitzpatrick scale. 



                               

 THIS TREATMENT IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR:

                                        


  • Active infections: Any skin infections, including herpes simplex or bacterial infections should be resolved before treatment. 
  • Pregnancy or Breastfeeding.
  • Autoimmune disorders: Conditions like lupus or psoriasis can complicate recovery and results.
  • Skin conditions: Eczema, dermatitis, or any other chronic skin conditions may interfere with the healing process. 
  • Recent surgery: If you've had surgical procedures in the treatment area, its recommended to wait until fully healed.
  • Bloody disorders : Conditions that affect blood clotting or healing may pose risks.
  • Keloid Scarring: individuals prone to Keloids may experience adverse effects.
  • Use of certain medications: Drugs like Accutane or blood thinners can affect healing and should be discussed with a practioner. 
  • Sunburn or Tanned skin: Recent sun exposure can increase the risk of complications. We recommend avoiding sun exposure or Tanning for a minimum of two weeks before your fibroblasting appointment. 
  • Individuals with hypopigmentation / hyperpigmentation are not idea candidates for this treatment.
  • Individuals with pacemakers CANNOT have this treatment. The procedure may interfere with the device's functioning , posing a safety risk.
  • Heart conditions: Such as arrhythmias or heart failure.

    Plasma pen therapy is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses a pen like device to create tiny plasma arcs on the skins surface. This stimulates collagen production and tightens the skin.


    Plasma pen therapy improves fine lines and wrinkles  , enhances skin texture , has minimal downtime and effective scar treatment.


    The number of plasma pen treatments required depends on personal goals and specific skin conditions. Usually single treatments yield significant results, however additional treatments maybe required to achieve optimal outcomes. The minimum interval of 3 months between treatments is advised.


    Plasma pen therapy can cause some discomfort during the procedure. To minimise discomfort we would apply a topical numbing cream before the treatment. After the procedure, some swelling, redness and tenderness in the treated area can occur, but these effects typically subside within a few days. individuals pain tolerance  and experiences vary , please feel free to discuss any concerns you have beforehand. 


    Recovery time can vary, but most people experience redness, swelling and scabbing for 5-10 days. Full healing may take a few weeks.


    To prepare for your plasma pen therapy, it's important to avoid sun exposure and tanning for 2 to 4 weeks prior to the procedure, and to apply SPF50 daily. Furthermore , you should refrain from undergoing other treatments, such as chemical peels, laser therapy, and fillers in the treatment area for 4 weeks and no Botox treatments 1 week before and after plasma pen session. Additionally, its advisable to avoid skincare products containing retinols, AHA's or vitamin A derivatives for 2 weeks leading up to and after the plasma pen treatment. If the eye area is to be treated, please ensure that false eyelashes and contact lenses are removed beforehand. All makeup should be removed on the day of procedure. Should you opt for this treatment, your practitioner with run through the pre-treatment and post- treatment care instructions in your consultation. 




    You may observe immediate results, with the full effects becoming more evident over a span of 8 to 12 weeks.
